Sonny and Teresa

A Love Story Across Generations

A true love story that lasted 62 years.

A life doesn’t need to feel extraordinary to become meaningful. Sonny and Teresa proved that.

From a chance meeting on a Kansas baseball field to a lifetime of love, faith, and family.

Now, their story lives on—in us.

Available in paperback, hardcover, and eBook

A Love Story That Spanned Generations

This is more than a love story.
It is the true story of Sonny and Teresa—my grandparents—whose 62-year marriage was built on faith, sacrifice, family, and unwavering devotion.

From a chance meeting on a baseball field in Kansas to a lifetime rooted in Staten Island, their journey reflects the heart of the American family—shaped by Irish and Italian heritage, Catholic values, and the bonds that carry through generations.

This book captures a century of life, love, and legacy—from the late 1920s into the new millennium—and serves as a reminder of what truly matters: family, faith, and the enduring power of love.

Watch the Story Behind the Book

@saltran1320

This story belongs to more people than I realized when I started writing it. It belongs to Staten Islanders who remember a different borough—tighter, louder, more alive with family. To anyone who has ever built their life around their Catholic faith and found strength there when nothing else held. To the baseball community—the coaches, the players, the parents who sat in those bleachers—who know that the game was never really just a game. To the College of Staten Island and everyone who walked those fields where Sonny coached—where championships were won and kids were quietly changed. To the CYO community, where Sonny discovered his true calling wasn’t baseball at all. It was children. To anyone from the Midwest who knows what Teresa knew—that you can leave home and still carry it with you every day of your life. To everyone who believes that a long, faithful marriage is not ordinary. It is extraordinary. And it deserves to be celebrated. To the families navigating Lewy Body Dementia—the confusion, the grief, the impossible love of watching someone disappear slowly. You are not alone in this. Sonny’s story sees you. To anyone who has lost a spouse after decades of life together and doesn’t know who they are anymore without them. Teresa knew that feeling. She found her way through it. Maybe her story can help you find yours. And to the hospice community—the nurses, the volunteers, the quiet presences who sit with people at the end. You are doing sacred work. This book knows that. If any of these communities are yours—this book was written for you too. Please share it with someone who needs to read it. #statenisland #faith #lewybodydementia #hospice #cyo
